GADOT Germany continues to grow and becomes the owner of WCL Shipping
GADOT Germany GmbH, based in Düsseldorf, took over all shares of WCL Reederei-Agentur GmbH located at Monheim am Rhein at the turn of the year. The growing company is thus strengthening its activities in the international logistics business and is now represented in Germany with 5 locations.
More than 30 years ago, Susanne Spieth-Fengels and Hans Jürgen Fengels founded today’s WCL Reederei Agentur GmbH as an independent shipping agency with a focus on short-sea transport with Portugal and Spain, a company that today offers its customers international sea and air freight transport all over the world and has its headquarters on the Rhine promenade in Monheim. Having started out as an agency for shipping lines, WCL Shipping now generates the majority of its revenues through forwarding services and the use of a large number of partners and shipping companies – at the same time, the company acts as an agency for selected ocean carriers.
After a long, successful career, Ms. Spieth-Fengels and Mr. Fengels are now implementing an orderly succession for the company. “As of January 1st, 2024, GADOT became the sole shareholder of WCL Shipping and we are sure that with GADOT we have selected a company from a large number of prospective buyers from which both our long-standing customers and our employees will benefit sustainably,” says Hans Jürgen Fengels , who recently celebrated his 70th birthday.
With the activities of WCL Shipping, the GADOT Group is strengthening and supplementing the company’s existing service offering in the international logistics business. At the same time, WCL Shipping can now offer its customers a significantly expanded service portfolio for demanding, international supply chains.
“We are pleased that the current managing director Rainer Fischer will continue to be structurally available to the company and that Ms. Spieth-Fengels and Mr. Fengels will continue to support the company for a transitional period,” said Thomas Brakmann, CEO of GADOT Germany and additional managing director of the Monheim company.
